On May 5th, 2020, the racing community lost a beloved budding driver, Ted Appleton. Ted’s family is partnering with NAMI Rochester as a commitment to shine a light on mental health awareness. It is an honor that ROC and Spencer Speedway are allowing the Asphalt Sportsman feature race on September 2nd to pay tribute to Ted. By dedicating Ted’s #81 car to mental health awareness, and with the help of Chris Finocchario, the Appleton family hopes to inspire conversations about mental health in the racing community and beyond. 

The Appleton’s give a big thank you to Chris Finocchario for making this event happen and driving Ted’s #81! They also want to thank the Schoonmaker family as well as numerous other racing friends for all their support in keeping Ted’s memory alive. Now let’s go racing!
